Ely and Rachel search in the wilderness for uncontaminated food. The rotting corpses of the aliens are releasing a madness-inducing plague which has turned most survivors against the Rangers. They manage to find Ely's lost sword of Kalichakra. They discover they can use this sword to open a dimensional gateway to escape the dying Kanen to another planet.
